Thomas Pitt of Clayton was operating a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle when the fatal crash occurred, Clayton police said.
On Saturday, May 6 at 7:41 p.m., Clayton police were dispatched to North Delsea Drive at Earl Avenue for a report of a crash.
The initial investigation revealed that a 2003 White Honda Civic, driven by a 25-year old Deptford resident, was traveling south on Delsea Drive. The driver of the Civic attempted to make a U-Turn in the roadway and collided with the motorcycle, police said.
Pitt was treated at the scene and transported to Inspira Hospital via Gloucester County EMS. Pitt was later flown to Cooper Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, police said.
The driver of the Civic sustained head and shoulder injuries and was transported to Jefferson Hospital in Washington township by Gloucester County EMS.
There was no evidence that the driver of the Civic was intoxicated or had criminal intent.
The driver, whose name was not released, was cited for careless driving and improper turning, police said.
The crash is still under investigation.
Anyone with additional information about the crash is asked to contact the lead investigator, Officer Kelly Guglielmo. Kguglielmo@claytonnj.com
